I contributed some of my smaller 6 x 6 acrylic works on paper to this new show that ran through December this year and promises to be an annual event. Every work was a hundred dollars or less. Sometimes I fret a bit about this trend to low ball prices for artist works .... after all they are typically framed and reflect significant effort and creative involvement . But it is also fun to have the opportunity to meet people at the event and to talk about all things art. I sold two pieces this year . I hope the buyer enjoys them as much as I enjoyed creating them. Its a lesson in "letting go" that is sometimes difficult for a new artist such as myself.
Well , another Christmas is over and a New Year is on the way . I still have a couple of smaller works on display at Brushstrokes Gallery in Lonsdale Quay [ acrylic on paper , framed and under glass].
My latest focus is to work with colour discords [ after completing my latest class at Emily Carr before the winter break]..... thus I have started to work on flowers - they allow me to play with colour as well as line and brushstroke - letting me let loose with those energetic and playful brushstrokes I so enjoy ]..... Take a look at my latest effort under new work and send me a note to tell me what you think ? You can contact me under Contact on my main menu. Wishing everyone the best of the season . |
