biblioteca [ library ] wall
]SMeA has two market days every week , but Tuesday is the really big market day - farmers in trucks hauling in their special produce everywhere; and the buses coming into town full of the out-of-towners in for a shop at the market, some food and some community visiting . It felt really joyful to be among all of the gente [ people] of the community , old and young , babies and couples.....
I got a ride into town with Bob , staying at the ranch .... he needed to get new shocks installed on his car for his exodus back to Colorado in the next few days , so after the delivering his car , we walked down some of his favourite side streets headed towards centro and a good cup of coffee at one of his favourite cafes.... [ the owner was not there , but the cafe was loaded with posters de-humanizing Trump, and the counter was filled with his favourite Mexican buttons on Trump....
After coffee, Bob showed me where to find the biblioteca [ library , theatre, and used book store for securing old books in English .... for 40 pesos each.... it also includes a lovely cafe and a place to grab the local papers to find out what is going on in town].... I purchased a new old book to replace the one I have finished. Bulletin boards announce all the goings on in town ... from opera to tango . Tickets for everything can be purchased here.
Then we headed out for a walk to La Fabrica - once a sprawling gigantic industry and largest employer - the making of fabrics that were shipped far and wide ..... now it has been converted into a multitude of art stores, antiques [ museum pieces and some for sale]..... and a multitude of other fascinating businesses of the cultural variety . It includes an outdoor cafe, and the original duck pond from its factory days.... a place for artists, and art lovers alike.

Title: The Paper Airplane: Fabrica
It hasn't taken me very long to fall in love with the quirky sense of humour I find in Mexican art, culture and with the wonderful people themselves as these little art pieces along one wall in the fabrica will tell you.
.Permission was given by the gallery for me to capture this large piece in oil by Luis Cardenas It is titled , " En al alba"
A corner of the fabrica
So many amazing artists and craftspeople at the fabric- from natural dyed fabrics to the art of creating boxes in aluminum and dyes ... so beautiful .. we spent time talking to the people in each place we went [ as best we could].... interestingly , a lot of the young people in each store use Google translation as well so when we got stuck ... out came a phone and just like that we could understand each other.... technology is really amazing .
Bob headed back to get his car and I carried on to various streets known for local artists wares .... a great day ..... a lot of walking .... but here are just a few images I captured during the day ...

A beautiful man
Mexican ambiance- El Pueblo Viejo
About 3 pm I decided it was time for a rest from the heat, some food and maybe even a drink.... Was it happenstance that a signpost on the sidewalk outside this restaurant was offering 2 for 1 marguaritas.... Have I told you how much I like a good marguarita... so in I went .....to the restaurante Pueblo Viejo .....
Needless to tell you the ambiance was so perfect..... the margarita was unbelievably good.... so good ... that even though the waiter could not understand why I wouldn't take the second one - it was FREE after all, I tried to explain that I wasn't sure if I could stand up and walk out of the restaurant after the first one - which I enjoyed sip for sip ....
I wasn't particularly brave with my choice for lunch this first visit but I hope to go back and try some of the chef's favourites - for example , I really want to try the " Mushroom and cactus soup" with a tomato broth with fried mushrooms, tomato chile guajillo and cactus ... or how about the tostaditas de mole - that is handmade with chicken, banana and goat cheese.... [ I was given the menu to take with me].... and the waiter took me to the bar and gave me generous tasters of various local Mexican drinks [ I will try to go into some of those later.... but they were SO GOOD].... He was a lovely man and I think he wanted to do something extra given I only drank one margarita....

After enjoying a Mexican margarita to the fullest, I might reconsider those tango classes.... haste luego ..
